The Wild West is still in the Game with Margaret River Wine
It’s tough living in the Wild West. Our capital city – Perth, is the most isolated city in the world. Saying that if you ever came over to see any us here you wouldn’t know it was so isolated. What you will notice is that WA has great weather, beautiful beaches and a wealth of great food and wine. Let’s have a closer look at the largest state in Australia which has a lot more to offer than meets the eye.
One of the things that attract visitors to Perth is the great weather. Perth has a Mediterranean climate. This means that for most of the year, the weather is fine and sunny, and even during the short mild winter the sun is often shining. It is because of this great weather you can enjoy a large range of outdoors activities year round, such as surfing, fishing and football to name a few. Compared to other Australia cities Melbourne and Sydney, Perth is definitely a top destination for visitors seeking a warm holiday.
Another major highlight of the west coast is the amazing picturesque beaches. WA has 12,500km of coastline –making the longest coastline of any territory. Some of more famous beaches are Cottesloe and Scarborough in Perth, make sure you have your trendy bathers and stay for sunset. But down south you’ll find secluded white beaches perfect for romantic getaways. Surfers are spoiled for choice with the notorious Margaret River and Dunsborough breaks which are famous worldwide. Head up north and you’ll find Cable Beach in Broome as well as pristine beaches on route such as Coral Bay and Monkey Mia.
Let’s not forget the good stuff too – food and wine! Restaurants in Perth bring together the bountiful supply of seafood from waterside locations like Fremantle and regional produce from the fertile Swan Valley and Perth Hills. Visitors can expect award-winning restaurants, cheap and cheerful cafes and international eateries.
A trip to Margaret River and Dunsborough will overload your senses with their great olives, chocolate, cheese and much more. The wine region is also world famous. Wineries have been in south west corner of Australia since the sixties and produce famous Margaret River Wine can that can be sampled at the many cellar doors along Caves Road.
So you tell me, is it so tough to be living in the west? Not at all! In fact, WA had over 700 000 international visitors last year, and on top of that WA also had over 1 million interstate tourists! Things can only get better for WA folks and with a new development in Perth City the visitors and good times will keep on rolling. Cheers to that!
